Suzanne Bradbury was born in California but grew up in Mallorca, where the blind pianist José Ortiga taught her for ten years and inspired her dedication to music. After studies in New York, at Dartington in England, and in Vienna, she settled in Munich, where she took a degree under Ludwig Hoffmann at the Musikhochschule. She was invited by Wilhelm Kempff to his course in Positano in Italy, and was selected by him to participate in a television film celebrating his 80th birthday. Back in Munich, she continued studies with the venerable Stefan Askenase, who became a valuable musical mentor. While still a student, Suzanne was awarded the Prize for Young Soloists organized by Hesse Radio, and subsequently recorded for nearly all the radio stations in Germany, for the BBC in London, and for Radio Suisse Romande. She also gave solo concerts and played concertos in many countries, and won prizes in the German University Contest and in the international competitions at Vercelli and Barcelona. After a period in Florence, she founded and directed a distinguished chamber music festival at Allensbach on Lake Constance, which continued for ten years.
Returning to live in Deià, Mallorca, she has continued an outstanding solo career, performing both on the island and internationally with many notable partners, such as the Brodsky Quartet, the Berlin Philharmonic Wind Quintet, the Sinnhoffer Quartet (Munich), the cellist Mark Drobinsky, the Palma Symphony Orchestra, and the Camerata Quartet from Warsaw. She has performed and recorded many pieces by the American composer Carl Mansker, and is the dedicatee of his acclaimed Piano Concerto, which she recorded in 2001 with the Bratislava Radio Orchestra.
