Six Quintets by Padre Soler (1729-1783) for organ or harpsichord and string quartet.
These little gems were published in 1930 by the Catalan government, edited by Robert Gerhard. That edition was a scholarly edition, not a playing edition, and there were no parts. The present edition of the quintets is authorized hy his heir, Mrs. Rosemary Summers. All are available from Soundpost, but are not yet posted here.
Pages from the Soler Quintet III
These really should be recorded on fortepiano. The tessitura is too extended for most Baroque organs and harpsichords.

A Piano Trio by American W.W. Gilchrist(1846-1916)
Edition based on the manuscript held in the Logan Free Library of Philadelphia, where there is a wealth of American chamber music.
The first concert consisting of chamber music works by North American composers was heard in Case Hall, Cleveland on July 3, 1884. The program was a "Recital of compositions by native and resident American Composers": Arthur Foote, William Mason, John Knowles Paine, George Chadwick, Calixa Lavallee, among other lesser known figures, and this "Trio in G Minor for Pianoforte, Violin and Violincello" (sic). The occasion was the eighth annual meeting of the Music Teachers' National Association held between July 2 and July 4 -- Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.
In celebration of this occasion, several of the pieces on that program, including the Trio, were performed in the Deiá (Mallorca) International Music Festival on July 4, 1984.
William Wallace Gilchrist (1846-1916) was one of the leading musical figures in nineteenth century Philadelphia. He studied privately with Hugh Clarke (who was later Professor of Music at the University of Pennsylvania) from 1865 to 1868. During this time Gilchrist was active as a baritone soloist at Holy Trinity and St. Mark's Churches, soloist with the Handel and Haydn Society in productions of Messiah, Moses in Egypt and Judas Maccabaeus, and participant in a series of light operettas presented by the Amateur Drawing Room. In 1874 he was appointed organist and choirmaster at St. Clement's Church, and he drew the original Mendelssohn Club members from the choir there. The Mendelssohn Club began as an eight-voice male chorus, but soon increased in size and added women's voices. The first subscription concert was held in December, 1879, and included piano and cello solos as well as choral works. Gilchrist was becoming increasingly well-known as a composer and concerts began to feature his works as well. In 1882 he won first prize at the Cincinnati May Festival, where the judges included Camille Saint-Saens and Carl Reinecke.

The piano music and lieder by the late Mallorcan composer Jaume Mas Porcel
1909-1993 like the music of Torrandell, is redolent of the salon music in Paris of the 30's, where they both spent a lot of time.
Note: Because of copyright restrictions, at present you can only view a few selections. If you want to purchase copies from the inheritors of Porcel's music,
his complete piano works have been paper published by the Island Council of Mallorca, and the complete songs are pending here on hard disk. The songs include 22 based on lyrics by Paul Verlaine, all for soprano and piano.
A piano trio called "Mallorca" by Bernardo Torrandell 1881 - 1963. Also prepared are three miniatures for soprano and piano trio, plus one for soprano and piano quartet. In addition we have ready to go Torrandell's Sonatine and Deux Pièces Majorquines, both for violin and piano.
A Te Deum written by Catalan Pedro Tintorer i Segarra (1814 - 1891) for choir and orchestra to celebrate the birth in 1855 of the son of Napoleon III, as well as other music, in score and parts.
There is also the piano reduction of the orchestra part, for use in rehearsal. The orchestral parts are available by request for a nominal cost.
